We believe that there is no better person to partner with than a friend.  This approach allows us to constantly challenge and learn from each other.  Our clients also value the camaraderie we share and know they we will do right by them as we do for each other.

OUR BEGINNING: Spearhead’s partners have known each other and been close friends since their childhood years.  Tony Andrews actually started things off in 1997 when he founded his own carpentry contracting company and the rest of the team came together in early 2002. We began by developing single family homes on the City’s north side.  We eventually moved on to multi-family projects where the most significant of these was the development at Willow and Burling in Lincoln Park. This project started in the spring of 2006 and delivered units in 2008 which unfortunately marked the beginning of the collapse of the real estate market.

GENERAL CONTRACTING: It was at that crossroads that we made the decision to focus on providing general contracting services.  Under our sister company Tandem Construction, we began working with clients, architects and interior designers we had established close relationships with over the years. We focused on delivering various commercial and residential projects. A few of the notable commercial projects we worked on include the remodel of Sacred Heart School’s Conway Mansion, a large multi-family apartment remodel in Lakeview as well as building new facilities for Park Packing and RS Enterprises. A few noteworthy residential projects included single family homes for clients in Old Irving, Lakeview, Old Town as well as the remodel and addition to a large 13,000 square foot single family home in Winnetka. We also performed extensive condominium remodel projects including the Palmolive Building in Streeterville and The Carlisle on Lake Shore Drive.

UNION LEAGUE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB: Our most prolific project during this time was the redevelopment of the Union League Boys and Girls Club One building at 2157 West 19th Street in Pilsen.  The project more than doubled the size of the 130 year old club to almost 35,000 square feet and helps the estimated 3,300 youths the Club serves a year. This project provided us with the opportunity to work with one of the City’s most prominent architecture firms, Antunovich Associates. This significant project was honored by the presence of both Mayor Rahm Emanuel (when the addition was completed in 2012) and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle (at project completion in 2013). The transformation of Club One and the story about its notable influence on the community it serves is summarized in the following VIDEO.

A NEW START: With the economy starting to rebound, Spearhead took the lessons learned as a general contractor and revived the development company in early 2013. We got back to our roots by developing single family homes and targeted popular neighborhoods including, Logan Square and Lincoln Square in the city and Glencoe and Deerfield in the North Shore. We have continued to focus on our commitment to quality craftsmanship but have added the commitment to delivering inspired architecture and interior design in all our new projects.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE: We look to the future with a sense of humility and excitement and understand the importance of sticking to the values that helped us get to this point.  We are confident that we will succeed as long as we commit ourselves to always listening and learning what the marketplace demands.  To that end, we are focusing our efforts on transit oriented development (TOD), which we believe is a trend that is gaining significant momentum. As long as we stay true to ourselves and our friendships, we are confident that Spearhead will play an important role for the people we serve.
