Spearhead-Properties-Inspiration

The inspiration for 344 South was to maintain the charm of the original Glencoe home and bring it into the 21st century. When Spearhead found the home it was neglected, in disrepair, and lacked the features and layout desired by a modern family. The designers and client worked diligently together to rework the floorplan and integrate  contemporary finishes that are emblematic of the personality of the home’s owners.

South Street was sold in record time and the owners remark that they often receive compliments from neighbors on their home. Long-time Glencoe residents are ecstatic to see the house saved from demolition and to have a stately home on the corner once again.

344 South is another successful Spearhead property in the beautiful village of Glencoe.  This home is located across the street from a park and set on an extra-large corner lot. As it has for decades, the home commands attention as people pass through the neighborhood. This project consisted of a complete a gut-rehab of the original home with a large addition on the second floor. Like many of our Glencoe properties, the home is within close proximity of downtown Glencoe, a Metra station, the lakefront, Chicago Botanic Garden, and all of the area’s golf courses.

The transitional design aesthetic expressed at South Street can be characterized as sophisticated, yet casual and fun. To the right of the entry hall is a formal sitting room with fireplace mantel created from old beams repurposed from the original home. To the left is the high-ceilinged living room with custom built-in entertainment cabinetry and original stone tile floors. A unique voluminous playroom with whimsical carpet flows to the kitchen.   The kitchen itself features professional grade Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances with a wall clad in intricate custom Mexican cement tiles. The show stopper is a large, luminous quartzite waterfalled island set among custom inset cabinets. One of the homes most notable features is an enormous mudroom with more cement tile work. Beautiful oil rubbed hardware gives a nod the age of the home and is also found in some of the light fixtures. Upstairs is made spacious with the new addition. Bathrooms use tile in interesting ways, including bright blue penny tile in the kids bathroom.  The marble clad master bathroom includes Lefroy Brooks fixtures and a floating air tub.
